Bastille Day around RVA, plus Stroop news and Juice news

Greetings from Brooklyn! I'm not in RVA...but you are, so let's get on with this thing so I can go run through the sprinklers in Prospect Park! (also, now accepting recommendations for Fort Greene/Park Slope attractions. And by attractions, I mean THINGS TO EAT.)

Oh, and a quick bit of good news for pretty much everyone: There's a Pokemon Go bar crawl happening on July 30th in the Fan. Life is beautiful, folks.

BASTILLE YOUR FACE

Raise your beret and your glass of rose, it’s almost Bastille Day! Celebrate France and all things Fronch all day tomorrow.

Special Stuff:

Whisk, All day, while supplies last: Free strawberry shortcake (dotted with blueberries for proper tricolour effect) with any purchase!

Amour, 5:00-10:00: Enjoy a five-course meal, celebrating the storming of the Bastille, for a mere $59. Take a look at the menu, and then tell me if that meal does not sound INCROYABLE!

Blue Goat: Toast your freres from other meres with a complimentary drink with which to gesture dramatically as you yell, “Vive la France!”

French all day, everyday:

  • Can Can

  • Jean Jacques

  • Bistro Bobette

  • Monique's Crêpes will be roving from Royall & Co from 11:30-1:30 to the Copper Springs Apts from 4:30-7:30. Seetheir FB for deets.

  • Chez Foushee

  • Chez Max

  • Pretty much anywhere with “Chez” in the name

STROOP SCOOPIN’ BOOGIE

It's a big week for Stroops lovers. There's a new summer menu, which premiered yesterday and includes ICE CREAM FLOATS; plus, the Stroop Crew announced the return of Back Door Dogs, every starting Saturday, July 30th at their Scott's Addition kitchen (3112 W. Leigh St.), as usual from 12:00-1:00 only. So, scoop some strewps and then head to the brewery of your choice for a very RVA Saturday.

***BREAKING STROOPS NEWS*** Today, July 13th is National French Fry Day (right on the heels of cow appreciation day, naturally), and Stroops is giving out a free fry during French Fry Happy Hour (a very happy hour, indeed) from 3:00-8:00 with the purchase of a seasonal dog or the RVA Dog, so my advice is this: Go twice.

THE JUICE IS LOOSE

Ginger Juice has been hydrating us steadily since their move to The Village Shopping Center. After a little break, they're ready to do it again, now with more seating! Tomorrow, July 14th from 8:00 to 6:00, go check out the new scene, sample some acai bowls, and (if you spend more than $30) get a free Ginger Juice yoga mat...because what goes better with coldpress juice than inner peace?

IF YOU DO NOTHING ELSE...

Stock Provisions is now hosting weekly movie nights, every Thursday, starting tomorrow (food at 7:30, movie at 9:00) with a screening of The Rundown. Bring a chair, cash dollars, and a chill vibe.

IF YOU DO OTHER STUFF...

This looks pretty amazing. Get splashy with the folks at Rogue Gentlemen before they go on vacay.

IF YOU PLAN WAY AHEAD...

Folk Feast tickets are now on sale, and the early bird tickets are already gone. I prefer to pretend that summer is going to last forever, but if fall must come, let it bring with it one of the funnest dine-arounds in town, benefitting FeedMore and giving Folk Fest-goers vastly improved parking options. Get your tickets while you can.

FROM ELSEWHERE...

Rap Snacks are back, but I've STILL yet to find any Ecto Cooler in the wild. So, 50/50 this week. Speaking of Ecto Cooler, The Coalition Theater is hosting a live read of the OG Ghostbusters script, directed by Beau Cribbs and staring various RCC funny people. If I were in town, I'd be there dressed up like personal hero Janine Melnitz.

SIP: POTTERS CRAFT CIDER FARMHOUSE SAISON

So refreshing, it's a perfect summer sip.

BITE: NATE'S SOURDOUGH BAGLES

Nate's Bagels will be offering salted sourdough bagels this week at the pop-up at Stock Provisions on Friday from 4:00-6:30. Get 'em, freeze 'em, eat 'em. AND! Bagel Club is now accepting members for August, so get on that if you like being a part of something greater than yourself...and eating bagels.

GRAM: @nativeselections

Stay up on them good wines.
